SME- Empowering India Awards 2019

Small and Medium Enterprises play a vital role for the growth of Indian economy by contributing 45% of the industrial output, 40% of exports, 42 million in employment and create one million jobs every year. SME complement large industries as ancillary units and contribute enormously to the socioeconomic development of the country. SME manufacture more than 8,000 products ranging from traditional to high tech items.

SMEs have always been the backbone of an economy in general and secondary sector in particular. For a capital scarce developing country like India, SMEs are considered as panacea for several economic woes like unemployment, poverty, income inequalities and regional imbalances.

OBJECTIVE

With an objective of acknowledging the inestimable contributions by SMEs to various sectors of economy- “SME- Empowering India Awards 2019” has been constituted. This award scheme seeks to recognize the contribution of such SMEs who through their achievements and growth have empowered the nation.

As the world is getting smaller, competition is getting tougher but opportunities are getting bigger. SMEs are utilising latest technologies and systems to grow their companies, increase exports and reach new heights in terms of customer service.

This Award scheme is intended to promote, encourage and recognize the efforts of those SMEs who from a modest beginning have now become a brand name in their respective business vertical. Their success, expansion and sustainable growth rate is an example to other Small Medium Entrepreneurs who want to grow and expand their business dream.








MECHANISM

“SME- Empowering India Awards 2019” endeavors to recognize excellence in Indian SME sector by executing a very standardized and rigorous methodology. Applications from firms/ companies would be sought in response to a questionnaire based on quantitative and qualitative aspects of businesses. Applications received would be evaluated by an independent panel of eminent industry experts. Review of this evaluation and decision on final awards would be made by the constituted Jury Panel.

  • Expert Committee will select top 3 contestants in each category
  • These 3 top nominees will be called for presentation in front of JURY.
  • The JURY will select one winner in each category
  • The decision of the jury will be final in all respects.
  • The Jury will also have the right to visit participating industrial unit or invite them to Delhi for verification of data, if it so desires.
  • Jury Committee meeting to be held in month of Feb'18 at Convention Centre, SCOPE Complex, 7 Lodi Road, New Delhi- 110 003.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • To participate in this award scheme the organization should be a legal entity engaged in an economic activity.
  • The organization should be a registered enterprise with the Local SSI / MSME directorate or with a free trade/industrial zone in India.
  • It should have at least one registration number from the following: (1) Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Registration Number (2) National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Registration Number (3) GSTIN Registration Number (4) Udyog Aadhar (5) Industrial Entrepreneurship Memorandum (IEM) Number
  • The organization should have audited financial statements for the past 3 years.
  • Audited Balance Sheet to be attached along with other supporting documents.
  • The Company can apply to any one of the award category SME- Empowering India Awards 2019, as defined under:
    • 1. Micro Category – A micro enterprise is defined as a unit where the annual turnover does not exceed Rs 5 crores;
    • 2. Small Category – A small enterprise is defined as a unit where the annual turnover is more than Rs 5 crore but does not exceed Rs 75 crore;
    • 3. Medium Category – A medium enterprise is defined as a unit where the annual turnover is more than Rs 75 crore rupees but does not exceed Rs 250 crore.
    • 4. Mid-Corporate Segment - Annual turnover between Rs. 250 – 500 crore.







METHODOLOGY

  • he performance of each of the participating companies for the reference year (the latest year 2017-2018) called ‘Current Value’ will be adjudged in relation to the average performance for the last two years called ‘Average Base Value’.
  • The formula used for normalization is given below:
    NORMALISED VALUE = (Actual Value- Minimum Value) / (Maximum Value- Minimum Value)
  • Score for a Factor= NORMALISED VALUE X WEIGHTAGE
  • The ratio of Quantitative & Qualitative Factors is kept 70:30 and the weightage ratio of 70:30 between Growth and Level of performance under Quantitative Factors.
  • Each company would be graded on a scale between 0.0 to 1.0 i.e. the best performing unit gets a grade of 1.0 and the least performing industrial unit gets a grade of 0.0 while the rest of the participants get a grade between the two limits.

  • Organization can submit its application in the prescribed ‘Application Proforma’ online.

  • The nomination form needs to be submitted by owner in case of proprietorship firm, by partner for partnership firm and in case of company MD, Director, CEO, COO, CFO, President, Vice-President etc. should submit the form.
  • Attachments (Specific backup information) may be of verifiable nature (documented records like annual report, Presentation, Video footage etc.) as relevant to the query
  • Nomination Fee:
  • Micro category- Rs. 7,799/- (Rupees Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Ninty Nine Only)

    Small Category- Rs. 9,977/- (Rupees Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy Seven Only)

    Medium Category- Rs. 11,939/- (Rupees Eleven Thousand Nine Hundred Thirty Nine Only)

    Mid-Corporate Segment - Rs. 14,990/- (Rupees Fourteen Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Only)

    Note: Rate mentioned above is for single nomination. GST would be charged extra @ 18%.
